What is the latin name for a cedar tree?

Cedar is not a scientifically specific name. The Word is used to refer to trees of several different kinds, even different families. The famous cedar of Lebanon is Cedrus libani and belongs to the pinaceae family, whereas the American eastern red cedar is a member of the cupressaceae family and has the name Juniperus virginiana.
