Are there wolves in the Tucson AZ region?

Wolves are not native to the Tucson, AZ region. The Mexican gray wolf, a subspecies of the gray wolf, was historically found in parts of Arizona and New Mexico, but they were extirpated from the area in the 20th century. Reintroduction efforts have been made in the Apache National Forest and surrounding areas, but they are not commonly found in the Tucson region itself.
