It is normal for tweens and teens not to get along with their mother or father because the young adults are growing and trying to spread their wings of independence, but at the same time the parent or parents truly love their child and want them to be safe and happy so they may have some heavy rules for their child to follow such as coming home on the weekends at a certain time when you have been out with friends or on a date; doing your homework to get good grades; going to bed when you may think it's too early; not allowing you to hang around certain people you may think are your friends. Parents are not out to make their tween or teenager miserable, but have a tough job teaching their children how to keep safe and to be the best they can be when they get out in the world and away from home. Sit down with your mother and realize that she too once was your age and ask her to tell you stories about when she grew up. Listen to what she has to say and you may be surprised her feelings were much like yours at that time of her life. Then tell her how you feel and why does she get mad at you. You mother is a person too and has personal problems of her own and life isn't always about you.
