George Washington was a British soldier during the French and Indian War, which was part of the larger conflict known as the Seven Years' War. He served as a lieutenant colonel in the Virginia militia, fighting on the side of the British against French forces and their Native American allies. Washington later became the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, leading the colonies in their fight for independence from British rule.
