The Germans were experimenting with anabolic steroids. The idea being you can turn a regular guy into a super soldier with it. Did not get very far with the experiments but after the war the Russians did a lot of research into it and it is felt a lot of their weight lifters were using it.
The British, Japanese and Germans supplied amphetamines to their troops but the USA did not get into that, and only started doing research in the late 40s, after the war.
LSD was first made by a Swiss chemist in 1938. Then it was set aside for five years. In 1943 the Swiss discovered its mental effects. The USA was not made aware of it until 1949, after the war. So no, it was not used at Normandy.
There was heavy use of coffee, Coca-Cola and nicotine with the troops, all tending to keep them awake and stimulated. The official Coca-Cola story is they made sure the troops had Coke available to them during the war but I wonder how much that was encouraged by the DoD to ensure the caffeine was always available to them. They also supplied cigarettes in every field ration, again maybe to make sure the nicotine kept coming.
The USAF in some circumstances up to 1991 gave their fighter pilots amphetamines for long distance flights. The idea is better a hopped up pilot than one who falls asleep and crashes the plane. They stopped doing that after Desert Storm in March 91
