A baby anteater, or pup, feeds primarily on its mother's milk during the first few months of life. Once it starts to eat solid food, it will gradually begin to consume ants and termites, which are the main components of an anteater's diet. The mother often carries the pup on her back while foraging, allowing it to learn how to find food.
