Japan since the Mejii Restoration Period has been a country that has to a large extent followed the Western Democratic Model.

With the exception of WW2, and the lead up to the war, Japan has used a model very similar to British and Commonwealth governments.

There is a communist political party however, though it doesn't hold that much power in the Diet.
