Why is calculating the sum of 2 and 4 divided by 8 confusing?

It is a case of do you mean

2 + 4/8 or

(2 + 4) / 8

As given the answers are different

2 + 4/8 = 2 + 1/2 = 2 1/2

&

( 2 + 4)/8 = 6/8 = 3/4

That's why it is confusing. So you MUST qrite the numbers in correctly, rther than as Words.
