Can you drink alcohol while taking Valtrex?

If it's for a short treatment (Valtrex for shingles or herpes treatment), you can take alcohol in small amount (but it will increase side effects). However, if it's a long term treatment (herpes prevention), you may speak with your doctor before taking alcohol to make sure your liver is going well.
