How do you change the fuel filter on 1992 mercury grand marquis?

You need a pair of pliers first. Lay down on the ground on the drivers side and look up under about a foot in fron of rear tire assembly. you'll see a can shaped object installed inline. There are 2 plastic clips that push thru 2 small holes in locking clamps , pull theswe out with pliers. Remove fuel lines fron either end of filter. Install new filter, making sure arrows showing direction of fuel flow are pointing toward engine. Now push clips (you;ll probaly get new ones with new filter,)back into holes to lock into place. On first start after changing, leave key in on position without going into start position for about 3 or 4 seconds to allow fuel pump to refill lines and filter.
