Can you use Preparation H on dog?

Check with your vet...the tissues around the anus can be very sensitive, and if there seems to be a problem, there may indeed be one....

The dog in question is 14 years old large growth seems to hurt him with bowell movement. Can't afford vet would like to try other methods Preperation H, what else? To minimize size, at least. Thank you for any help.
