Why is it hot at the core of the Earth?

The Earth's core is made of extremely hot metal under intense pressure, surrounded by a layer of extremely hot molten metal.

Because of the force of gravity, many of the heavy radioactive metals have concentrated here, and the heat is caused by the radioactive decay.
