Was Beethoven best known for composing beautiful music?

I suppose was mostly famous for his nine symphonies - they are regarded as masterpieces and the ninth symphony widely regarded as one of the greatest pieces of classical muic ever written. In addition to these, Ludwig van Beethoven was a master to everything he turned his hands to. He wrote string quartets, regarded as masterpieces, he wrote over 30 piano sonatas that are considered masterpieces, he wrote concertos - that are considered masterpieces - the list goes on. he wrote many other orchestral and instrumental works and several choral works (like his great Mass in C) that are all considered masterpieces. He wrote just one oratorio 'Christ on the Mount of Olives' and one Opera 'Fidelio' and, although not in the first division of opera and oratorio masterpieces, are major works nevertheless. Because of his all-round genius, Beethoven ranks with Mozart and Bach as one of the greatest composers that has ever lived - and in terms of the most influential, both on other composers and on the development of Classical Music, he is head and shoulders the most influential composer that has ever lived. And lets not forget that for most of his composing life, Beethoven was totally, stone deaf, hearing his music only within his own mind.
