It is the headquarters and primary manufacturing location for Cessna and Beechcraft. And was once the headquarters for Boeing, Learjet and many others. Additionally many avionics and powerplant manufacturers have operations in Wichita.

Its central location in the United States makes it an ideal location for airplane manufacturing.

Boeing aircraft are now manufactured in Seattle Washington.

Airbus is headquartered in Toulouse France which is also home to their primary manufacturing facility. They also have large factories in Hamburg Germany, Seville Spain, and Tianjin China.
