Why was the pyramids in port elizabeth built?

Built by Sir Rufane Donkin, governor of the Cape Colony in the 1820s as a tribute to his wife Elizabeth who had died in India. So contrary to popular belief Port Elizabeth is not named after Queen Elizabeth but after Elizabeth Donkin.
