How much water does LA use per year?

The consumption in 1990 of water in the city of Los Angeles was 1.1 million acre-feet of water (what a lousy unit! I'll google a conversion: 1.36 *10⁹ m³ ) that is a cube 1,36 kilometers (almost 4500 feet) on a side!

Another source is quite lower but this is the amount of water purchased by consumers: 2011 the amount for residential consumers was 361,666 acre-feet (446*10⁶ m³ ) Remember 2011 was cool and rainy!

The Greater Losa Angels area with San Fernando, Orage counties etc "consumed" of course a lot more.
