The main disadvantage of solar energy is that it only works when the sun is shining.
This can be overcome by storing the daytime energy in some way so it can be used during the night. This can be done by charging batteries, by pumping water uphill, or by heating something that will hold the heat all night. Molten salts can be heated up to 600°C at the top of Concentrated Solar Towers. This allows electricity generation 24 hours a day.
