Can dogs see their self in the mirror?

No, they don't recognise themselves in mirrors, but when they do happen to see into a mirror they will usually bark, because they don't know that the dog in the mirror is them. they just think that it is another dog, so they bark at it or ignore it.

It is quite unccommon for a dog to see in a mirror though. i once picked up my dog and turned his face towards the mirror and he just looked for a second and then turned away and acted normal.

.WRONg WRONG WRONG my doy is currently goin crazy and has been for the last two hours we have hidden removable mirrors in another room and coverd all others he is currently trying to remove these, when we give him a mirror ,wich we did not do in the first place he found 1 in my daughters room on the wall ,he sits content and tapps the mirror and looks all round it he is currently exedingly agitated and destroying my room lookin for a mirror he knows where they should be and is climbing and scatching to get to 1 he is a 1 year old yorkie and he watches tv all the time to the point where i limit him to half hour a day on animal programs wich he has preferences for ie he cant stand elephants and tigers but horses and hippos r ok i am still reserching this as i don't want to let him sit in front of a mirror all night can anybody help

To answer 3, that is not sufficient information to say that they recognize themselves in the mirror. For all you know they could be interpreting it as another dog.
