What the difference between he has played and he played?

he has played means he played that game someday earlier...means not just now...

and he played me he just played it.....

for example....

i have eaten this.......it means that either u r saying that u have eaten this or u have eaten this earlier and next u would tell about its taste....etc....

i ate this......this means that there was something kept there and u just ate it...
