What are the codes of ethics in journalism?

Unrestrained freedom of the press and the activities of journalism gave rise undesirably, to undertakings that were rather detrimental to the society as far as the culture and ethics of people are concerned. Such undertakings by journalist included 'Yellow Journalism', sensationalism, the tendency intruding into private lives for the sheer sake of juicy news and so forth. This gave rise to the importance for the formation of certain ethics in journalism also known as principles that are expected to be abided by.

A journalistic undertaking has to be featured by objectivity, a writing or a deliverance of news completely free from personal opinions and bias. A news has to be balanced and fair without any inclinations of favoritism to one side of the issue. Similarly truthfulness and accuracy should be the feature of a news items. An article should be decently delivered devoid of any sensitive language, any personal derogatory remarks and without resorting to emotionally shocking items like presenting photographs of human corpses. A news agency or press must be independent and not restricted to undertake their activities. And lastly, a news media must be responsible for the same society that gave them the freedom.
