AA has a one year success rate of about five percent, according to its own published statistics. According to the U.S. federal government's National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, and based on its nation-wide study of over 43,000 adults who had been diagnosed as alcoholic (alcohol dependent), 75% are now in complete or partial remission. Most of them have achieved their success without any form of treatment or outside help.
