Speculative Answer: Those who seek to increase knowledge about their environment (external and internal) are likely to discover things that increases their likelihood of surviving and out-competing others. This also applies to the group in which they participate. Humans and groups of humans uninterested in learning more, if they exist, are likely to be among those that are still in a very primitive state.
