How long did Queen Victoria not go out in public for after her husband died?

Prince Albert died December 14, 1861 and after his death Queen Victoria refused to appear in public until 1866. Though she reluctantly opened parliament in 1866 and began appearing in public she did remain in mourning for the rest of her life.
