What ingredients are in a playdough recipe?

The basic ingredients of playdough are flour, warm water and salt. The amount vary depending on how much you want to make but generally the ratio is: 2:2:1 or 2 cups flour:2 cups water:1 cup salt. To this mixture is added 2 tablespoons of vegetable or cooking oil. Optionally, 1 tbsp cream of tartar is added to improve its elasticity. Food coloring or powder pain may be added to add color and scented oils, to add a fragrance.
