Why does Car die at idle?

All cars, with a fuel injection system, use some form of idle control valve that lets a small amount of air into the fuel sytem to keep the engine idling when the throttle is closed.

From my experience, this valve is a common problem and is relatively cheap and easy to repair.

Of course it could be a number of things causing the problem, but i certainly think its a good place to start.
