oh, i wish lol...i been crushin' on this guy unrequitedly for years now, and have dreams of him at least a handful of times throughout the course of a week :P

But no, conventional wisdom(and parts of science) state that dreams are completely internal to your own body and are unable to be influenced by outside events...at least to any noticeable or controllable degree.

The prevailing notion is that dreams are caused by excess electrical energy in the brain, or that the brain *just keeps working* while you are asleep through those electrical impulses, and that this is what causes the mental imagery which we perceive as dreams.

The fact that you are dreaming about someone you know more-than-likely indicates that you are or were thinking about them at some point in the recent past, which is where your brain picked up the rememberances to stitch together your dream.

Caveat: it is known and common for the dreamer to also mold his dreams on things that they might happen to hear directly while they are asleep...so if you happen to fall asleep with the tv on and a children's programme comes on while you are sleeping, it's entirely possible that you might end up dreaming about dancing singing flowers & birds :)
