What is the meaning of transactional conversation?

When a speaker is getting information from someone else, or information is being shared between both people.

Eg.

A: What time is it?

B: It's 5pm

or

A: Did you see that bird?

B: What bird?

A: That bird over there, the pigeon

B: Oh yeah I did, I didn't know it was a pigeon though
