Why do places near the ocean tend to have mild climates?

The temperature of the ocean does not change easily. When cold air blows over the ocean, the air warms up. When hot air blows over the ocean, the air cools down. Therefore, it is the ocean that prevents the extremes of great heat and cold. That is why places near the ocean tend to have milder climates than inland areas.
