British is a nationality. British people are from The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which is a state comprising three separate countries. Great Britain is made up of England and Wales - which are one country, and Scotland. Northern Ireland is the third country, and occupies the north-eastern corner of the island of Ireland.
