Where on the retina is the blind spot found?

The blind spot, also known as the optic disc, is located in the retina at the point where the optic nerve exits the eye. This area lacks photoreceptors, meaning it cannot detect light, resulting in a small gap in the visual field. It is typically situated about 15 degrees temporal (toward the side of the head) to the fovea, the region responsible for sharp central vision.
