Was Ivan's behavior toward Rainsford disarming?

Ivan's behavior toward Rainsford was certainly disarming. On the one hand, Ivan was quite welcoming and gregarious, offering Rainsford a good meal and a comfortable bed despite being a complete stranger. He also made a point to engage in conversation with Rainsford, asking him about the Hunt and his past experiences. On the other hand, Ivan was also quite menacing, threatening to hunt Rainsford with his pack of dogs if he refused to join the game. This combination of hospitality and menace created an atmosphere of unease for Rainsford. As a result, Ivan's behavior was disarming in that it kept Rainsford off balance and unsure of his next move.
