In science particularly the life sciences, the theory is highest level of certainty you can get. Usually, it is based on decades of testing, data collecting and rigorous experimentation among scientists, graduate students and undergrads worldwide. The predictability of the theory must be near flawless to be considered a valid scientific theory. A scientific theory has to have a high level of certainty because many theories eventually become the cornerstone of an entire scientific field. For example, the Cell theory is the way in which scientists understand molecular Biology and the Theory of Natural Selection is way in which ALL OF BIOLOGY is currently being researched. In everyday life, a theory is simply a guess that can be educated or uneducated, sort of like a superficial hypothesis.
