Why are greenhouse gases important to the climate?

Greenhouse gases are important because they prevent heat from escaping the atmosphere.

Because human activity (deforestation and burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas)) is putting additionalamounts of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2) into the air, the world is warming up. This is global warming, which is causing climate change.
