How did the Great Leap Forward lead to the Cultural Revolution?

The cultural revolution paralyzed China politically and significantly affected the country economically and socially, at this time the people persecuted in the violent struggles that ensued across the country and suffered tortures, harassment, imprisonment, and public humiliation.
