Is it true or false supplementary angles are always linear pairs?

True only if the two angles are adjacent (i.e. have a point in common). By definition, supplementary angles add up to 180° therefore they are linear pairs, if they are adjacent.

Otherwise false. Imagine drawing an angle of 40° at the top of the page and another of 140° at the bottom. These angles are supplementary but not a linear pair.
