What does the small white square with three shapes in the top left hand corner of the screen mean when a picture or video fails to load and how can this be fixed?

It either means it's blocked by the firewall, or (the most common case) you need to download some software to let the program work. This usually won't have you running to the store to buy new software. Usually it is just someting you can get online!
