What is the Reykjavik treaty?

The Reykjavik Treaty, signed in 1986 between the United States and the Soviet Union, aimed to significantly reduce nuclear arsenals and marked a pivotal moment in arms control during the Cold War. The treaty, negotiated by U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev in Reykjavik, Iceland, proposed the elimination of all nuclear weapons within a decade.
