What does it mean if your friends are being mean to you?

I think they just want to test your patience and understanding if you really treat them as your friends....... Don't get mad immediately my friend....

It depends on how they insult you/be mean to you. If it is really bad and very rude, they may not actually be your friend. But sometimes a friend will lightly tease you, just for fun.

For me if a friend is being mean to you, it either means shes not interested in being your friend anymore or shes just trying to act cool in front of other people, so just leave her alone for a while and she'll notice something is wrong , THEN . . . Talk to her and tell her how you feel :)

Well they may be just playing with you and they think you will play back. Just be mean back, its not the right thing but if this is the read-on then they wont be as mean if they know you can handle it and retaliate.

well. they might just be doing that cause they are going through hard times. so why don't you sit down and ask them about it. and confront them. they mite not agree with you at first. and they mite get mad. but if they really are your friend. they will understand what you are saying. or they will finally realize that what you said was true or whatever. and they will apologize for being mean. and the other answers above as well can be true. so don't just read some and pick 1 advice. read all of em. and try em all!
