Has equality been achieved in the 21st century?

The equality of people in society waxes and wanes from place to place over time. Equality in society is very elusive. The earth is populated by human beings and human beings are fallible. Because of this fact, true equality of all people can never be fully achieved.

This fatal flaw in human endeavor should never diminish the efforts of societies or individuals to continue striving for equality. Those efforts are not wasted. The highest level of equality possible should be the goal of a society.
