How do you remove the key from the ignition?

Although this may not be an obvious solution to the problem, to remove the key from the ignition you should:

1. Pull the key out of the ignition.

Notwithstanding this bluntness, in some vehicles there is an additional catch or button that must be released before the key can be removed. Hold this button or catch down whilst pulling key out at the same time. As well as this, the key can only be pulled out (in most vehicles) when the key is turned to the 'Off' position. Ensure it isn't on the 'Auto', 'On', 'Start' or any other setting when you try to take it out. also make sure the transmission lever is in PARK
