What is the paper folding theory?

While there have been many different theories regarding the folding of paper, some more fanciful than others, the artform is usually referred to as origami. Among some of the more impressively mad theories is that paper properly folded can bend steel, and another states that a piece of paper folded multiple times can be sharpened and used as a blade.
