Why would a guy hide from a girl he likes?

Some guys are weird like that. It's probably cause they think she will beat the crap out of him or he is embarresed to be around her when people are around because he thinks someone will yell out " ( his name) likes( her name). Haha let me use an example. "Hey everyone, Ed likes Charlotte!" You know stuff like that. It scares some people.
