How did Colin Mcrae get famous?

He became famous through rallying, he was British Rally Champion with Subaru (throught contacts his dad had, also a british rally champion in the Legacy, then he was entered into selected rounds of the WRC in 1993 and then Prodrive gave him a full WRC contract, won the WRC championship in 97, and the rest is history.......
