We bought two Franklin recliners in December of 2002. They have been in continuous use since then with minimal problems. Virtually everyone who comes to visit us more than once competes to get one of the two Franklin recliners. This particular model, the AL-46T/5 KD has the large storage areas under both arm rests and serves as my depository for remotes. This model also has the heater and the vibrators. I usually take a nap in my recliner as I find it very comfortable. One of the recliner's heater elements stopped working, but was replaced under warranty. Now after 5 1/2 years a small spring has broken on the foot rest on my recliner and I'm searching for a replacement spring. Considering the use its been given, I don't feel this is an indication of a problem, just heavy use. I cannot speak for all Franklin recliners, but the two we have been using have provided good service with great comfort. ----------- Franklin is a good brand, as someone who works in the marketing sector of a furniture retail center, I can state that of all the recliners, Franklin and Lane are two of the most trusted and reliable brands. Both Franklin and Lane (two competitors whose offices are located near each other) are still manufactured in the United States, which is becoming an increasing irregularity in the furniture industry. Franklin provides a range of recliners from lift recliners with massage features to standard wall-away and rocker-recliners. They have solid frame interiors and they also machine most of their own specialty parts, again, a rarity in today's furniture industry. One thing to be of note is that no furniture really lasts forever unless you break certain ceilings on price - that being said, even after a decade or less you will see wear in any heavily used piece, such as a recliner. The days of furniture lasting two decades has long since past all of us by, yet folks like Franklin and Lane both manufacture products that have a higher life cycle span than others. Franklin is not only a good brand of recliner, it is also still committed to customer service, and they support their retail centers well. Likewise, if someone goes to them directly, they will often get prompt answers to their questions on any repair issue and where to go to fix a problem, should one need being fixed.
