Is it against the law to cut a penny in half?

actually it is illegal the cut a penny in half i have researched this all over and i asked a sheriff and he said its disrespect to the country and our founding fathers and you can spend up to 2 days in prison no i am just kidding all that WA a lie i was joking but it is disrespectful
