Do you need to get your parents consent to become emancipated?

If you live in the US you won't be able to get emancipated at 14, even if your parents agree to it. One of the requirements for emancaption is that the minor must have a job and earn enough to fully support theirself. That means paying for rent, utilities, food, medical expenses, etc. That does *not* mean moving in with someone else and depending on them to pay part of the bills. You must be able to pay it all on your own. Since child labor laws *greatly* restrict the number of hours a 14-year-old can work there's no way you can that, unless you happen to be a professional actor / musician / athlete making BIG bucks.
