Why are some square numbers odd numbers?

Square numbers are the result of multiplying an integer by itself. An odd number squared (e.g., 1, 3, 5) remains odd because the multiplication of two odd numbers always yields an odd product. In contrast, even numbers squared (e.g., 2, 4, 6) produce even results. Therefore, only the squares of odd integers are odd numbers.
