Who was Japan named after?

Japan wasn't named after a person, but a Word. The Word Ni hon in Japanese meant "land of the rising sun" due to how it looks. It's as beautiful as the sun. Also, not a specific person named Japan, but China named it Japan, even though they are "enemies" (probably due to China being allies with the United States). And about how the United States had the Atom Bomb long ago (learned it in school~).
