Why might mansa musa have brought so much gold with him?

Mansa Musa, the ruler of the Mali Empire, brought vast amounts of gold on his pilgrimage to Mecca in 1324 to demonstrate his immense wealth and power. By showcasing his riches, he aimed to establish Mali's prominence in the Islamic world and to foster diplomatic and trade relationships. His extravagant display also served to promote the cultural and economic significance of his empire.
