Where did the Lapita sail from?

The Lapita people are believed to have originated from the region of Southeast Asia, particularly from the islands of Taiwan and the nearby areas. They are known for their remarkable navigational skills and were among the first to settle in the Pacific Islands, including Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and Fiji, around 1600 BCE. Their migration represents one of the earliest examples of long-distance ocean voyaging in human history.
